I don't want to be too cheesy with this, but the title "photographer" has always felt a little off for me. My talent is with people, not necessarily cameras. It's like I'm a really good people person who happens to know a little bit about cameras. I'm sure you feel very confident in me after that, haha. But seriously, I do this for the people. The connections that remind us we're human. Not because I can tell you every feature and button on my camera. I love and appreciate art, so I think that's where the camera bit comes in. It's the medium that allows me to bring things to life.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ME
Well, I'm born and raised in Nebraska. Juicy, I know. I used to fight it (for what I think could be obvious reasons) but now I'm more committed than ever to leaving it better than I found it. Marrying someone who grew up ranching and farming definitely gave me a sense of pride about what we do here, so now he and I call Lincoln (the state's capital) home. BUT, in a twist of events, I consider New York City my second home.
Ah, New York. Say what you will about the trash and the crowds, but have you ever walked around the West Village on a Saturday afternoon when the sun is shining and you stumble upon the most idyllic outdoor patio where you can sip a glass of wine while people watching? Because those are the moments I live for. The endless possibilities of the city truly feed my soul. I definitely romanticize the sh*t out of it.
Anyway, let's do some FAQs!
I wanted to be good at painting and drawing but I wasn't so photography it was! Lol. Kidding, but not really.
how did you get into photography?
what's your favorite type of shoot?
how often are you in nyc?
FAVORITE KIND OF FOOD?
how would your friends describe you?
favorite thing to do in your free time?
All the time! As frequently as I can! Never hesitate to reach out about booking something in New York. It's such a special city that sparks so much creativity within me. Most importantly though I want you to know that I'll travel to wherever your story is happening.
WOW, this is a loaded question. Classic American fare (think fried chicken sandwiches or a good salad) is always a good idea but pasta and tacos? Also a resounding yes. Don't even get me started on dessert...
Well, if you're an enneagram person, know that I'm a 2w1, so I care deeply for others but also love to follow rules and just a touch of a control freak. In three words: personable, kindhearted, fun-loving.
I don't think I have a favorite as far as newborns vs couples vs branding, etc. (I shoot them all for a reason). But I will say I love when my clients are open to my creative vision and put their trust in me.
Being home and in my routine is when I thrive. Howeverrr, I love to travel (cities and the outdoors!). I'm in a movie club where we basically discuss all things pop culture, and of course spending time with my dog Sally. Being out on a lake in the heat of summer also ranks high.
